I am a retired IBM'er (35 years) living in Northern Virginia. I have been faceting as a hobby since the early 1980s… only now that I have retired do I have sufficient time to devote to faceting.

Like many faceters, I work out of my home. I facet on a custom built "Gearloose" XS3 faceting machine - the latest and greatest design!

To be perfectly honest, the VAST majority of my stones are immediately confiscated by my wife, daughter, or daughter-in-law!!! It is difficult to slip stones by them! So, if you see some of my stones here, you can rest assured that they are duplicates!!! I will, however, do custom work… please contact me with your needs.

Silhouette stones

In addition to standard and custom gem cuts, I specialize in "Frosted" designs. "Frosted" gems are stones which are cut with silhouettes of things like cats, butterflies, spiders, leafs, crosses, etc. on the pavilion (bottom) of the stone. The stones are cut in a shallow design forcing a "window". When the stones are mounted (in a standard mount) with an opaque, high contrast backing material (such as Lapis or black onyx), the design stands out in high relief. They are striking and MOST unusual!
